Veeam Health Checks
What are Veeam Health Checks?
"This Windows utility is a lightweight executable that will generate an advanced configuration report covering details about the current Veeam Backup & Replication installation. Simply download, extract, and execute to generate the report."
To create the reports needed for the Assessment please download the latest version of the Health Check tool...
NOTE: Within the Zip file, go to "Tools" and look for the "Veeam.Hotfix.Detector". This tool will provide information as to whether or not the V12 upgrade will require you to open a support case...
NOTE: Data collection can take 30-40 minutes to complete. To that end, we’ll need to have you run the tools prior to our meeting, and reply back with the reports attached so that we can review the finding and prepare for our analysis meeting.
Must be run as elevated user (right click .exe and run as administrator)
User must have the Backup Administrator role for the Veeam Backup & Replication environment
Only Veeam Backup & Replication v11 or later is supported
The tools must be run locally on the system where the Veeam Backup & Replication or Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 is installed (remote execution from a shared drive will not complete in a timely manner)
C:\ must have at least 500MB free space, and output is sent to C:\temp\vHC
Operation of the Veeam Health Check Tool
Download the tool.
Extract the archive on the Backup & Replication Server.
Run VeeamHealthCheck.exe from an elevated CMD/PS prompt or right-click 'Run as Administrator'.
Configure desired options on the single-page GUI.
RUN (you can choose the 7-day collection).
Review the report, it will be created in C:\temp\vHC\ (default), and its name will look something like this: ‘Veeam HealthCheck Report_GC-MC-VEEAM_2022.07.11_135041.html’.
Operation of the Veeam HotFix Detector Tool (only needed as a pre-check before upgrading to v12)
Within the VeeamHealthCheck_* directory access the Tools directory.
Within the VeeamHealthCheck_*\Tools directory select the Veeam.HotFix.Detector.zip file. Right click on the file and choose to "Extract All..." of the contents to the current directory. When presented with the option, please click on the "Extract" button.
Within the newly created VeeamHealthCheck_*\Tools\Veeam.HotFix.Detector directory select and right click on the Veeam.HotFix.Detector.exe file. Choose to "Run as administrator". If the "Windows protected your PC" window appears, click on "More info" and then click on the "Run anyway" button. If the User Account Control window appears click on the "Yes" button.
A command line window will appear to run the script. Once the script has completed you should see a message in the command line window of "Installation detected 0 hotfixes. Upgrade path is clear!" with the line beneath it displaying "Press any key to exit...". Press a key, such as the spacebar or Enter, and the command line window will close.
Within the VeeamHealthCheck_*\Tools\Veeam.HotFix.Detector directory a Job.HotFixDetector_*_.txt file will be generated. Please send this file via a reply to this email.
